The Research & Development (R&D) of the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department is dedicated to fostering a strong culture of innovation, scientific inquiry, and technological advancement among both faculty and students. The department actively promotes cutting-edge research, high-quality publications, and meaningful collaborations with premier institutions and industries. Aligned with emerging technologies and national priorities in power, energy, and automation, our faculty leads impactful research projects, consultancy work, and technology development initiatives. Simultaneously, students are encouraged to participate in innovation challenges, national and international conferences, prototype development, paper presentations, and R&D-oriented internships. Together, faculty and students contribute to a vibrant research ecosystem that drives creativity, problem solving, and transformative engineering solutions.
The R&D Center of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Vardhaman College of Engineering has been officially recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) in the year 2022. The department is further strengthened by JNTUH-recognized Research Supervisors, namely Dr. N. Karuppiah, Professor, EEE, and Dr. Ravivarman S, Professor, EEE, who actively guide research scholars and foster a strong culture of research, innovation, and academic excellence.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) is supported by a strong team of qualified and research-oriented faculty members. The department has a total of 20 faculty members, out of which 8 hold doctoral degrees (Ph.D.). The doctorate-qualified faculty maintain an average H-index of 11, reflecting consistent research output and impact. The highest H-index among the faculty is 33, demonstrating excellence in high-impact research. Notably, Dr. B. Praveen Kumar has been recognized among the World’s top 2% of Scientists by Stanford University for the year 2025, highlighting the department’s strong research standing.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) actively fosters a strong culture of research, innovation, and intellectual property creation. Faculty members and researchers of the department have made significant contributions through patents, addressing emerging challenges in electrical engineering, energy systems, power electronics, and allied domains.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Vardhaman College of Engineering has consistently demonstrated strong research capability and societal outreach through the successful execution of multiple externally funded projects and consultancy activities. The department has secured funding from prestigious agencies such as AICTE, DST, and IEI, covering diverse and emerging areas including electric vehicles, renewable energy, smart grids, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, IoT, and community-focused science outreach. Faculty members have led projects on fast charging technologies for electric vehicles and intelligent robotic solutions for solar panels, contributing to sustainable energy development. Several DST–NCSTC projects have focused on creating scientific awareness among school children in rural and semi-urban regions, highlighting the department’s commitment to social responsibility. Long-term funded research on IoT-based SCADA upgradation for smart grids reflects the department’s strength in advanced power system research. In addition, the department has actively conducted AICTE-sponsored Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs) on contemporary topics such as electric vehicles. These initiatives enhance faculty competence, promote knowledge of dissemination, and strengthen industry–academia interaction. Overall, the funded projects and consultancy activities underline the department’s strong research ecosystem, interdisciplinary approach, and impact on both academia and society.
