The Department of Civil Engineering actively nurtures a culture of professional growth, research orientation, and technical excellence through its student chapters and professional society associations such as ACI, ICI, IGS, ISTE, and IEEE-GRSS. These chapters provide dynamic platforms for students to gain professional exposure, develop multidisciplinary skills, and stay aligned with emerging advancements in civil engineering and allied domains.
Through these chapters, the department regularly organizes a wide range of activities including guest lectures, webinars, workshops, technical fests, project expos, FDPs, symposiums, industrial visits, field visits, and software training programs. The chapters also coordinate major technical events such as VARADHI Technical Fest, Technovista (Engineers’ Day), Project Expo (2K23, 2K24, 2K25), and technical symposiums, along with industrial and field visits to organizations such as NCCBM, NOVOCO RMC Plant, Mega Concrete RMC Plant, T-Hub Hyderabad, Telangana State Engineering Research Laboratories (TSERL), National Academy of Construction (NAC), road construction sites, and hydro-electric projects. These professional society activities consistently witness strong student participation, typically ranging from 40 to 200 participants per event, demonstrating high levels of student engagement and enthusiasm.
The Department of Civil Engineering promotes professional development, research orientation, and technical excellence through active student chapters of reputed professional bodies. These societies serve as platforms for technical learning, industry exposure, leadership development, and innovation.
The ACI Student Chapter aims to strengthen students’ knowledge of concrete technology, sustainable materials, and structural performance.
The ICI Student Chapter focuses on enhancing awareness of modern concrete construction practices and quality control.
The IGS Student Chapter promotes learning in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical investigations.
The ISTE Student Chapter supports holistic student development and academic excellence.
The IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Student Chapter promotes applications of geospatial technologies in civil engineering.
The VARADHI Association is the homegrown professional body of the Department of Civil Engineering, Vardhaman College of Engineering, actively functioning for over a decade. It serves as a dynamic platform to nurture technical excellence, leadership qualities, creativity, and teamwork among students. The association organizes VARADHI, the department’s flagship annual National Level Technical Fest, which integrates technical competitions, project expos, and industry interactions. The association conducts various activities such as:
