Department Committees

The Department of Civil Engineering has constituted various academic and administrative committees to ensure effective planning, quality enhancement, curriculum relevance, research development, and continuous improvement. Each committee plays a crucial role in maintaining academic standards and aligning the department with institutional goals and industry expectations.

Department Advisory Committee (DAC)

The Department Advisory Committee acts as a strategic body guiding the overall development of the department. It comprises senior faculty members, industry experts, alumni, and academic professionals. The committee reviews academic performance, research progress, infrastructure requirements, industry interaction, and student outcomes. It provides recommendations to strengthen teaching–learning processes, consultancy activities, industry collaboration, and student employability.

Program Assessment and Quality Improvement Committee (PAQIC)

It focuses on maintaining and enhancing academic quality. It systematically evaluates Program Outcomes (POs), Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), and Course Outcomes (COs) using structured assessment tools. Based on analysis, the committee recommends corrective measures, teaching–learning improvements, and curriculum updates to ensure continuous quality enhancement in line with accreditation standards such as NBA and NAAC.

Board of Studies (BoS)

The Board of Studies is responsible for framing, reviewing, and updating the curriculum in accordance with academic advancements, industry requirements, and regulatory guidelines. It includes internal faculty members along with external experts from academia and industry. The BoS ensures that the syllabus remains relevant, outcome-based, and aligned with emerging technologies, preparing students for professional practice and higher education.

Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee works in coordination with the BoS to design and implement the academic framework. It focuses on course structure, content relevance, credit allocation, laboratory integration, and skill-based learning. The committee ensures interdisciplinary exposure, innovation, and industry orientation within the curriculum.

Project Review Committee

The Project Review Committee monitors and evaluates student projects at different stages. It ensures that projects are technically sound, innovative, research-oriented, and aligned with current industry and societal needs. Through periodic reviews and constructive feedback, the committee guides students toward quality project execution and documentation.

Together, these committees ensure academic excellence, continuous improvement, research orientation, industry relevance, and holistic student development within the Department of Civil Engineering.Â
